Workshops The workshops will
introduce learners to a particular topic and deal with it
over a two hour session. Fee $5
Subjects
will vary but may include material relating to a new facet of computing
technology, revision of known material, or provide
reinforcement of material already introduced in another course. Workshops for September 2010 The
following workshops are planned for September. The Downloading and
Trade Me workshops are a single 2-hour session, while the Internet
Insights will be over two sessions. Please contact the tutors listed
below to enroll. There is a limit of 12 learners per session.
1 Internet Insights Tuesdays

7th and 14 September $10 A
fun, non-technical look at the Internet. Learn about Favorites
(organizing, naming, saving and some hints regarding subscribing),
surfing tips, changing your Home Page, saving pictures, interesting
sites, Search Engines, Web mail and Spam (and how to deal with it),
surfing security (Virus checking, Firewall, Cleaning Information,
Secure Sites, Credit Card use) plus some insights into the endless

2 Trade Me Wednesday 22 September 9.30 - 11.30am $5 We've
all heard of Trade Me, but do you know how to use this on-line shopping
site? Learn how to go through the steps of setting up an account,
searching for a product, putting in bids and safely buying or selling
on-line. (Experienced users also welcome to come along and assist.) Tutor:

3 Download from the Internet Wednesday 15 September 9.30 - 11.30am $5 Learn
how to download safely. We will be looking at downloading pictures;
clip art - still & animated; fonts; screen savers; email
backgrounds; pages from websites and programs. (This workshop does not
