Planning
All new members
are expected to
take or to have taken previously the equivalent of the beginner’s Computer
Awareness course before proceeding further.
By taking the
computer
awareness course
you will get a basic grounding which will help you to follow later
courses more easily. However, if you have prior experience, you may
need to discuss your starting point with the course coordinator.
After completing the
computer awareness
course it is recommended that you take the following sequence of
courses.
Email,
Introduction to Word Processing
and
to fully consolidate your initial
computer knowledge,
- Files and Folders
- Manage Your Computer
And remember there is
always a good
case to be made for repeating a course if you feel you need to, in
order to fully grasp the teaching in it.

Course
Enrolment
New
members will be put on a
waiting list for a Computer
Awareness
course and advised when a place becomes available.
For all other
courses, members
will be advised prior to the commencement of each term of the course
schedule for that term. The procedure is as follows:
To
enrol, phone or email the contact tutor listed on the course schedule
and book in.
Make your payment on the first
day of the course, preferably by cheque.
A receipt
will be issued.
Should
there be too many applications – numbers are limited to 4 or 5 per
class – you may be placed on a
waiting list - or another class may be formed if there are sufficient
waiting.
- Please have your
membership
number ready when applying.
Course
Fees
The prescribed
course fee is
calculated on the basis of $5 per week up to a maximum of
$40
per course, each week involving
a class of 2 hours duration.
The following discounts
apply:
Learners who repeat a course,
provided they have the relevant course manual, are not required to pay
a further course fee for that course.
Learners who receive their
course manual in CD format instead of a printed manual will receive a
discount of $5 from the prescribed course fee.
Current tutors and tutor
assistants are entitled to attend a class free of charge provided there
is a vacancy.

The
courses are scheduled in four terms
of the year

All courses are run as two
hour weekly
sessions. That is:
an
eight week course is eight, two hour sessions weekly.
a
four week course is four, two hour sessions weekly
Workshops are
usually scheduled as one single two hour session.
Course
Materials
A
take
home course manual, course notes, or a CD disk is provided with each
course.
